Settling on a tshirt design is not always easy. The first step towards a
great design idea is to know what you want to say. Don't forge into a design
without a clear destination in mind. Write a brief description of your
purpose and jot down a few things that will help you accomplish it.
Keep your tshirt design simple and legible. We recommend you generate ideas

searching the web for a keyphrase description of what you

How To Save Money On Screen Printing Tshirt Designs
1. Limit the number of colors you wish to print. Fewer colors require fewer screen set-ups and less time to print
additional colors.
2. Limit the number of locations on the tshirt. Additional screen and printing charges apply if you want to add
additional locations.
3. Order white or light colored tshirts. Tshirt mills charge more for dark colors and printing on dark shirts often
require printing a white "underlay" to avoid the dark tshirt color bleeding through the design.
4. The More You Buy, The More You Save. Order in large quantities and your price per tshirt can go down dramatically.
5. Do not compromise on quality - always order 100% cotton, and purchase brand name, heavyweight tshirts.
6. Pick a company you can trust. Seek out a company that offers a wide range of custom apparel and provides both screen
printing and transfer technology tshirt services-without minimum order or set-up requirements. Look for real customer
testimonials.
7. It is always suggested that you plan ahead and consider buying 10% more tshirts than you
think you need. Our experience is that customers tend to under order as there are always
add-ons to your recipient list-- particularly after they see the tshirts. Re-ordering is not
always practical as the cost to set up a press for a small quantity may double the per unit
cost of the tshirt.
Placement of Tshirt Designs
The most popular spots to place your designs on your tshirt, of course, are
on the front, on the back or in both positions. These locations offer
full-size image areas for you to unleash your creativity.
"Staff Shirt" tshirt designs are most often placed in the "heart"
position, on the front of the tshirt in the upper left. The graphic should be
about 3-1/2 inches wide, and maximum of 4" x 4". Here placement tshirt
designs may be used alone or together with a large design on the back of the
tshirt.

There are basically two different custom tshirt imprint options: screen
printing or heat transfer technology. Each process has its own unique
advantages.
All About The Process Of Screenprinting Tshirt Designs
Screenprinting is the best way to permanently print your artwork onto Tshirts, sweatshirts and other
apparel. Screen printing is known for crisp colors and is ideal for larger print quantities. Most designs
for tshirts and other promotional products work best as spot color designs. This means that the design is made
up of specific individual colors. The two most popular (and possibly the best) programs for creating spot color
designs, and designs that have a lot of text in them are Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW.
Process color mixes four colors of ink to create many colors, and is best only for designs that are meant to
look photographic and for long-run production items.
When we receive your artwork, it first must be separated by color and then made into film positives. We then burn
a screen for each color in your design. Drop shadows, shading and anything that blends from light to dark will probably
end up looking like a series of dots and should be avoided. (This does not apply to single-color halftone gradients).
Creating The Screen:
First we coat a screen mesh with a light-sensitive material called emulsion. Next, we create a template of your artwork
in reverse. All the empty/white areas are solid (so no light will shine through. We place this template on top of
the screen mesh, and expose it to light. Light will expose the emulsion where the template was transparent. Exposed
emulsion changes and becomes water-soluable. We then spray the screen with high pressure water, which knocks out all
the exposed emulsion. We're ready to print.
Printing The Custom Tshirt Design:
We place your tshirt on one of our presses, and align the screen on top of it. We place ink on the screen, and activate
the press, which pushes ink through the holes in the screen mesh and onto the tee shirt.
Dry the tshirt: We send the printed tshirt design through our heated dryer to set the ink. Then we carefully
examine each tshirt to make sure there were no errors. If you should ever discover an error on one of your tshirts,
just bring it back and we'll replace it.
For multiple colors of printing, we make a separate screen for each color, but the process is very similar.
How long does it last?
We guarantee our screenprinting for the life of the garment.
Colors And Resolution
What looks good on a computer screen may not look good when printed. Why? usually because of confusion about colors or
resolution. Colors on one monitor will look different than they will on another. More importantly, there is no guarantee
that a color will look the same on your monitor and in a screen print. There are steps you can take to make this easier.
First, create your artwork in CMYK mode. The normal color mode for computers, RGB, uses some extreme colors that are
impossible to print. If you need your screenprinting to match an exact color, requiring inks be custom-mixed to achieve
a PMS color then extra charges often apply.
Creating art for printing is not the same as creating art for use on computer screens! If you've created images for the
Web, you've wanted your images as small as possible for quick downloading: 72 ppi, compressed, in RGB or indexed color.
Often, these files are under a 100k. If you use one of these tiny Web images in your printed work, images will be very
pixellated or "jaggy," and the color quality will be poor. Using Web images in print will look very disappointing.
